Our part of Oregon has a great potential for renewable energy — one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S.
Klamath Falls, for example, is home to some of the best geothermal energy in Oregon. Most of District 56 sits in an area that receives more than 280 days of sunshine per year. We also have regular, predictable, winds — currently being studied by several companies.
We need to make renewable energy successful in our part of the State. Far beyond creating jobs, through the use of public utilities and local single-buyers we can reduce energy costs substantially in District 56. This will make us more appealing to manufacturers, as well as providing a much needed relief to existing rate payers.
